Interview: Get Famous!
Could you each state your names and age?
Jon’Nathon Stebbe & Aaron Ives junior the third. We’re both in our early-to-late 20’s
How did you guys meet?
At one of those underground children’s toy conventions.
How did Get Famous come into existence?
Later that day at the convention. There was a last minute cancellation with one of the entertainers.
Could you explain the bands name?
Sure…
INT. TOY CONVENTION. - DAY
We track with the guys as they leave the stage. The crowd is roaring.
A greasy businessman with a cigar in his mouth steps into frame
BIZ MAN
That was some show fellas.
J&A
Uh, hey thanks…(wiping the sweat from their brows)
BIZ MAN
How would you boys like to sign a deal with me… and Get Famous!?
J&A’s heads snap and their eyes lock.
CUT TO:
A montage of limos, babes, ripping hot music and cash money.
…does that about sum it up?
The songs are a great combination of cool electro beats and live guitar.
It works extremely well. How did you come to this arrangement?
Jon: Thank you! It was really a rivalry turned love story. In the beginning neither of us could determine who was better. It became an intense showcase battle royale. I remember at one point cranking the tempo up to 300 on a song we were jamming. Thinking to myself “okay, let’s see what this kid can do”. …Let’s just say once we passed 250, Aarons’ fingers became blurry and translucent on the guitar. A radiant energy filled the room while my pants soaked through. After that moment, we knew what we had to do. We also knew that music at 250 bpm sucks.
On your myspace video I noticed a home studio.
Do you produce your own songs or do you collaborate with others? Why?
We collaborate TONS. It’s too much fun to keep to yourself. …Except when the person you’re playing with brings a xylophone. “This isn’t a Honda commercial Skyler…Now grab that fender and lets light some heads on fire!”
Could you tell us about your workflow?
Can we use this opportunity to plug ableton?
I feel nostalgia runs deep through out your tunes especially on Slip Away.
Could you tell me the story behind that song?
The creation of that song is such a cliché. Picture 3 hung over musicians in the studio on a Saturday morning. Each of us completely lifeless. One hand slowly rises out of its slump and begins the lead chord progression. The next hand hits the keys and the synth bass comes in. One by one each of us comes alive to add in to the track.
I’m not joking here, that’s how that song actually began.
What musician’s did you grow up with and who do you listen to now?
Aaron: Billy Joel, Beatles, The Police, Queen, Boot Sauce.
Jon: Maestro (Fresh Wes), Talking Heads, BB King, D-Train and the king: Weird Al
What is in store for Get Famous in 2010?
We don’t wanna give too much away here, but there should be a healthy amount of passionate remixes, Meticulously executed live shows, and something that rhymes with murger bing.
And finally what is your favorite drink when you’re out and about?
Diet Cokes from Burger King.
